FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU HAVE A LAYAWAY PLAN?
Yes, we offer a “30 day” layaway plan. Once
you choose the bird, which best fits into your family’s lifestyle.
Then we’ll mark him sold and a 25% deposit is required. Once
the deposit is left you have 30 days to pay him/her off.
Our layaway plan also includes a “weaning program” for
those of you who don’t want to hand feed. At no extra charge
we’ll keep your bird until he/she is weaned. Our only
request is that you visit with your baby as often as your schedule
permits. We have lovely seating areas where you can spend
time with your new addition.
CAN I TAKE MY BABY HOME HAND FEEDING?
We never send a baby home with an inexperienced hand
feeder. If a customer wants to take a baby home still feeding he/she
must be educated & taught how to feed and care properly for
their baby. We have several experienced hand feeders to fully
train you. This is a responsibility, which should never be taken
lightly. We recommend that you take advantage of our layaway
program and come several times to feed in front of us before taking
your baby home.

WHY & WHEN DO I GROOM MY BIRD(S)?
Grooming is very important for many reasons. Bird’s
nails can become long, sharp & pointy causing you pain but
can also be a potential hazard for your bird. He could be
caught up in clothing, rope toys, happy huts, nests, etc. Having
a concrete or sand perch in your cage once nails are filed will
aid in keeping them trim.
WHY & WHEN DO I GROOM MY BIRD(S) CON’T?
Having your birds wings trimmed is also important
as we’ve heard so many stories of birds accidentally flying
out windows/doors. Many owners never get their birds back
once they get outside and the outdoors is no place for a pet bird
to be. They come in contact with elements domestic birds are
not equipped to deal with, such as heat, cold, predators, no food/water,
shelter, etc. Grooming as a rule should be done approximately every
3-6 months. It’s very inexpensive to have your birds
groomed here. Feel free to call with what type of bird you own
for current pricing.
DO YOU HAVE A BOARDING FACILITY?
We have 2 boarding rooms available, one for small
birds and one for large. Birds not purchased at Birds Exotic
or if previously boarded elsewhere must bring in recent Veterinary
workup (for a list of what birds need to be tested for please email toddmarcusbirds@aol.com or
call us at 1-800-628-2473.) All birds boarding at our facility
have been tested which guarantee’s everyone in the store
is healthy.
Your bird will be in a new place, with new faces & noises
to assure a happy visit make sure they have something to play with
while here. You can bring some toys along or purchase new
ones. As far as food goes we provide our Custom mixes for
the birds, if your bird eats something other than our Customs bring
along some food. Each Cage gets cleaned and fed daily and
fresh water is given twice a day. If you’d like your
bird to come out on one of our trees for a few hours we can arrange
that. You can board in your own cage(s) or use ours.
